Residents' Associations


Neighborhood self-governing associations (chonaikai) are voluntary associations of people of each community engaging in various activities for the development of their community and improvement of residents' welfare.
They play a large role in community development and in order to encourage close contact between neighbors, mutual understanding , and mutual aid ,they engage in the following activities:
A. Environmental improvement and beautification
Management of dumps, Cleaning a street as one
B. Safe community planning
Disaster prevention, crime prevention, road safety
C. Mutual understanding, recreation
Festival, Sports days
D. Social welfare
Cooperation in various fundraising events
E. Aid for various societies such as those organized for women, children and the elderly
F. Contact and cooperation with government and municipal offices
Delivery of PR brochures of the city /circulars and letters
It's optional for you to join the neighborhood self-governing association. The monthly membership fee differs for each association.
To join the association, ask your neighbors to introduce you to the local community leader.
