Cultural and Sports Facilities
There are a number of cultural and sports facilities in Mishima which are open to the public. However, some of these facilities require reservation before use, so please be careful.
Cultural Facilities
Civic Cultural Center
Concerts and plays of various kinds are staged here. The entrance fee varies with the entertainment. Please inquire about the cost of performance at the center.

Hakone Youth Center
The Hakone Youth Center is a facility which aims at developing children's personality and character through experiencing group life surrounded by the natural environment. Please note you can only stay at the center if you part of a school group or some other community group. However, individual families can use the camping grounds at certain times of the year at a reasonable cost. Please inquire to the Center.
The Youth Center also has a Planetarium Display open to the public on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month (expect January, July, August & September) .The displays are at 10:30 am and 2:00 pm.

Rakujuen Municipal Park
Please walk around this beautiful Japanese garden which consists of lava from an eruption of Mt. Fuji, water thawing from Mt. Fuji, and many native trees and plants.
In the park is Rakuju-kan, which was built as a residence of Prince Komatsunomiya during the middle of the Meiji era. Rakuju-kan has famous paintings which are painted on its ceiling and sliding doors, and has been designated as an important cultural asset by Mishima City and Shizuoka Prefecture.
Also in the park, there is a zoo and amusement park.

Kyodokan(Local Memorial Hall)
This hall contains a small historical display of Mishima and the surrounding area.

Public Library
If you fill in an application form for registration, you can borrow ten books a person for fifteen days. There are about 3, 600 foreign books, magazines and newspapers.

OPEN: From 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
CLOSED: Mondays, the last day of every month (If it is a Saturday or a Sunday, the preceding Friday will be closed)
Community Center
There are 4 Kominkan (Community Centers) in Mishima City. You can join in any programs sponsored by the municipal government. Usually, these programs include flower arrangement, tea ceremony, painting, dancing, and so on. If you are interested in such activities, please inquire and apply at your nearest community center.

Sports Facilities
There is a civic gymnasium, a warm swimming pool, tennis courts, and grounds. You can enjoy playing volleyball, tennis, softball and swimming. Moreover, in these institutions, volleyball, badminton, aerobics, swimming, and aquatic classes are held.
Please inquire to the civic gymnasium about using an institution, the contents of the class, and an application. (Please have someone who can speak Japanese assist you.)

Mishima Childcare Support Center

A. Short-time Nursery This service looks after babies and infants at the support center for up to three hours per visit. We accept children from about six months old to preschool age.
B. Exchange Space
This is an open area where children and parents can play and socialize together. There is no charge to use this space.

- Acceptable time: Our hours of operation are from 9:30 AM to 5:30PM. We have a 3 hour maximum time limit per use of this service.
- Use charge: \600 an hour per child
- Capacity: 9 children
- Reservations are accepted two weeks in advance
- We require that you present an identification document to verify your relationship with the child in our care. Examples of acceptable identification include: a certificate of alien registration, a health insurance certificate, a driver's license, etc.
B. Exchange Space
This is an open area where children and parents can play and socialize together. There is no charge to use this space.
